寒い気候は苦手ではありますが‥

九州で生まれ育った私にとっては、寒い地域‥北海道や東北は憧れの場所でした。

そして、20代の時思い立って

生まれて初めて北海道に一人旅をしました。

博多から東京経由でブルートレイン（夜行列車ですね）を乗り継いで青森で青函連絡船（まだ青函トンネルは無かった）に乗って‥函館の地に降り立った時の感動は忘れません🥹

そこからは周遊券（北海道を鉄道で一周出来る）➕バスで半月ほどかけて北海道を周りました。

当時はなかなか女性が1人で旅をするのも難しく、あらかじめ電話で了解をいただいた上で予約した宿はどこも親切で気持ち良く過ごすことが出来ましたし、出会った人たちもみんな優しかった。

だから今でも北海道出身と聞くと良い人と思ってしまいます😊

寒い気候が、逆に温かい心を育てるのかしら‥と勝手に思ってる私がいます。

Hokkaido solo trip

What do you think about cold weather?

I don’t like cold weather, but…

For me, who was born and raised in Kyushu, cold regions…Hokkaido and Tohoku were places I longed for.

Then, when I was in my 20s, I decided to travel solo to Hokkaido for the first time in my life.

I took the Blue Train (a night train) from Hakata via Tokyo, then the Seikan Ferry (the Seikan Tunnel didn’t exist yet) in Aomori…I will never forget the excitement I felt when I got off the train in Hakodate 🥹

From there, I traveled around Hokkaido for about half a month using a round trip ticket (which allows you to travel around Hokkaido by train) + bus.

At that time, it was difficult for a woman to travel alone, and the inns I booked in advance by phone were all kind and I was able to spend a comfortable time, and everyone I met was also kind.

So even now, when I hear someone is from Hokkaido, I think they’re a nice person 😊

I can’t help but think that the cold climate fosters warm hearts.
